We invite you to our favorite tour of Patagonia & Tierra del Fuego. During this ride we offer you the best roads and sights of both Chile and Argentina, you will experience one of the world greatest natures on first hand. From the Carretera Austral with its deep lakes, rain forest to the Land of Fire in Argentina and the very south of Ushuaia at the end of the world. This Patagonian adventure offers all the great curvy roads for motorcycles, the famous Ruta 7 in Chile to the rough Ruta 40 in Argentina. It is our jewel in South America.

You will be introduced to some of the best wines and fine steaks from the two countries as we will continue to drop in and out of both Chile and Argentina on our way south.
All you need to do is book your flight to Santiago, Chile and we will have a flight ticket ready for you to arrive in Puerto Montt where your bike will be waiting, Chile. As for return flight tickets are also included in this tour. Welcome to the Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia 2013.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Santiago - Puerto Montt. Arrival with flight from Santiago to Puerto Montt. Welcome dinner and briefing about our upcoming tour. We will spend a night in Puerto Montt, Chile before getting on our bikes for next day adventure to Chaiten.

Day 2: Puerto Montt – Chaiten. We start our journey on the most beautiful route of southern Chile, the famous “Ruta 7” going through the  Carretera Austral (The rain forest of Chile). From Puerto Montt we head on a 45 km ride to La Arena where we will take the first ferry out of three:

  • La Arena – Puelche (8.00 – 8.45)
  • Hornopirén – Leptepú (10.30 – 13.30)
  • Fiordo Largo – Caleta Gozalo (14.00-14.45)

In between the the ferries we will ride short distances of 60 km & 10 km but with accuracy as the ferry from Hornopirén – Leptepú only has one departure per day.

Day 3: Chaiten – Puerto Aisen. Get ready to experience one of the greatest roads and sceneries in the world on Ruta 7 of Chile with its deep lakes and high mountains rising in the horizont  (366 km)

Day 4: Puerto Aisen, Chile – Chile Chico. Today we will leave Puerto Aisen very early at 8.00. We will climb over the “Cordillera de Los Andes” to reach the small cozy town of Chile Chico (Little Chile translated to English). Get ready for a narrow trail surrounded by wild and beautiful nature with lakes, mountains and Condor’s flying over your head. In Puerto Rio Tranquilo we will take a break at Lake General Carrera to experience the shining marble caves polish by the water of the deepest lake in South America shared with Argentina a truly unforgettable excursion. (455 km).

Day 5: Chile Chico - Gobernador Gregores, Argentina. We enter the Pampa of Argentina and one of the longest routes in the world, the famous Ruta 40 with more than 5.000 km in lenght (420 km).

Day 6: Gobernador Gregores – El Calafate. Don’t bring ice, but bring fine your single malt whiskey. We will be visiting the glacier of Perito Moreno. The third largest water reserve of the world. (425 km).

Day 7: El Calafate, Argentina – Torres del Paine – Puerto Natales, Chile. We will enter Chiles most famous and wild national park. We will be able to ride through, but also take a break  and experience the park on first hand. (300 km).

Day 8: Puerte Natales, Chile – Punta Arenas – Fuerte Bulnes - Punta Arenas. Our tour today will offer great asphalt and curves that only can invite for great motorcycle riding. At the end of the day will take the road leading to the most sounthern point of the Chilean mainland, 62 km south of Punta Arenas at Fuerte Bulnes. Here we will also pay a visit to the old Chilean fort. Later we will return to our hotel in Punta Arenas and spend the rest of the evening around the city  (360 km).

Day 9: Punta Arenas – Porvenir (2 hours ferry) – Ushuaia, Argentina. We get up early to get the 2 hours ferry to Porvenir and start on our last run down to the “Land of Fire” Tierra del Fuego and the end of the world, Ushuaia. Which is also known for being the most southern town in the world (455 km).

Day 10: Ushuaia, Argentina. It is our rest day and time to see the famous attractions in the area of Tierra del Fuego and Ushuaia. We will pay a visit to the National Park of Tierra del Fuego to have our photo taken by the famous sign at the end of the world. Later same day we will take a stroll around town and end the day in one of the good restaurants.

Day 11: Ushuaia – Rio Gallegos. We will start early this morning heading north on Ruta 3 leaving Tierra del Fuego behind us to explore the east coast of Argentina. On our way we will visit Laguna Azul 60 km south of Rio Gallegos. It is a volcanic field with its last eruption less than 10.000 years ago.
After we will continue to our hotel in Rio Gallegos finishing the evening in a social manner and a good night sleep (km 540).

Day 12: Rio Gallegos – Puerto San Julian. After a great ride along the Atlantic Ocean we will reach Puerto San Julian and book in for our hotel. Short after we will take a two-hour excursions on Bahía San Julián runned by a marine biologist-led team at “Expediciones Pinocho. The penguins stick around from September to April; when conditions permit, you’ll be able to step off the boat and walk around an Island where penguins swim, doze and guard their eggs. (360 km).

Day 13: Puerto San Julian – Comodoro Rivadavia. The capital of petroleum and very modern city of Argentina. We will spend the evening around town in search of a nice restaurant and bar. (432 km).

Day 14: Comodoro Rivadavia; Argentina – Sarmiento – José de San Martin - Esquel. We will start our morning early to reach the pertrified forest of Sarmiento located 38 kilometers out of the city. It is a truly amazing scene. Within the 1880-hectare Monumento Natural Provincial Bosque Petrificado Sarmiento you can see the tremendous geologic changes that shook this region 65 million years ago during the Cenozoic Era. Scattered across a lunar landscape surrounded by colored mountains are the petrified remains of coniferous and palm trees that had forested these plains. Three hiking circuits take visitors into this world: the Cicuito Chico (duration: 1.25 hours) and the longer Valle de Luna and Cerro Colorado trails. Standing amid the silent desolation of this landscape, it is hard to imagine the tropical world this once was. Today we will pay a visit to the 65 million years old stone forest of Sarmiento. After a two hour visit to the park we will head north-west towards Esquel and our destination at our hotel. (595 km).

Day 15: Esquel - San Carlos de Bariloche. We will have breakfast and then head north towards the laid back ski area and town of San Carlos de Bariloche, between the two towns, Esquel and Bariloche we will visit the famous hippie "pueblo" town called El Bolson and have a relax time for a bite of lunch. In Bariloche we will take you through town for a walk to the nearest bar to celebrate our last evening together and a great tour. (214 km)

Day 16: San Carlos de Bariloche, ARG - Osorno, CHL. We take a nice and easy ride from San Carlos de Bariloche over the Andes towards Chile and our final destination at Osorno, from here we part with a flight back to Santiago. (232 km).
